Regulatory change is top of mind for compliance professionals this year, and for good reason—we’ve seen strong indications that either the Privacy Rule or the Security Rule could undergo major changes as soon as Spring of this year.
But that doesn’t mean it’s time to wait it out and see what happens; it means it’s time to prepare!
The most recent Unified Agenda had almost every currently proposed regulatory change scheduled for this Spring—including major overhauls of both the Privacy and Security Rules under HIPAA.
While it is highly unlikely they would implement both of these massive changes at the same time, we have seen indications that it could be either one changing this Spring.
